The DOWSIL Construction Primer P offers excellent adhesion to construction substrates, such as stone, concrete, metal surface, and masonry. It's simple, one-part formulation makes it easy to apply on a surface immediately. Brushes should be soaked in DOWSIL OS-2 Silicone Cleaner and Solvent or another suitable solvent immediately after use.
A highly resistive compound formation that does not discolor even after long exposure to sunlight. When prepared properly, the primer can be used on a metal substrate such as Kynar resin painted aluminum. The primer has incredible water-resistant capability that enables its use on wet, horizontal surfaces. Best of all, the primer is supplied in cans for immediate use.
Porous surfaces to be primed should be clean, dry and free from contaminants. Use an abrasive cleaning method and then blow with compressed air to remove dust. (Ai compressors used for this purpose must be equipped with traps capable of providing moisture- and oil-free air.)
Nonporous surfaces should be solvent cleaned with a two-rag wipe as described in the current Americas Technical Manual. Apply a thin, uniform layer by brush to the surfaces to be primed, avoiding contact with areas that will not be sealed. Allow the primer to air dry for a minimum of 30 minutes before installation of backer rod and sealant use (primer should be dry to the touch).
